As an employee, it is vital that you advocate for yourself. If you have been working hard and have results to prove this, please bring them to your annual review. Therefore, when you ask for a raise, you can show the company that you are due for a raise. Many employees do not receive a raise, because they cannot show proof that they are an asset to their company. Remember, from the employers perspective, a raise is not always mandatory and they want to see proof of the value you bring to their companies.

If you have worked hard, have shown your employers this and they refuse to give you a raise, then it is time for you to reevaluate working for an employer that does not value what you bring to their company. Again, please remember, you are responsible for advocating for yourself in the workplace.
